What do you dislike about Clio?

Before investing in Clio, I highly recommend checking out Reddit threads for honest user feedback. Be aware, though—Clio tends to suppress negative reviews. Many customers have shared similar frustrations with the platform, from buggy app integrations to unhelpful support. The shiny marketing can hide these issues, so it's worth doing thorough research from real users before making a costly commitment.

Clio Case Management Platform claims to lead the legal industry in innovation, but my experience reveals a different story. Beneath its sleek marketing, the product is mediocre at best, feeling like a patchwork of disjointed tools awkwardly spliced together. It’s more of a Frankenstein creation trying to emulate the seamless integration of a Borg collective. Clio’s strategy of acquiring competitors and absorbing their features results in a fragmented system, causing confusion and a lack of cohesion.

Customer support is a nightmare. Clio is so compartmentalized that you often receive multiple conflicting answers. Any issue requires at least a two-hour call just to get to the point where they promise to “work on it,” not resolve it, but escalate your ticket. Even if you follow their online articles, which are often outdated or flawed, support remains inadequate. I had to hire a third party to fix integration defects that Clio failed to address.

For solo practitioners, Clio is particularly frustrating. It not only over-promises and under-delivers but also comes with one of the highest price tags among CRMs. This doesn’t even account for the billable hours lost troubleshooting their issues. Clio seems to count on legal professionals lacking tech experience, a common standard in our industry. However, as a paralegal with database-building experience, I found their approach unacceptable. Moreover, they refuse to help unless you allow remote access to your system, which poses a serious security risk for legal professionals. In the end, Clio feels incomplete and overpriced, leaving much to be desired.

I pay thousands of dollars for Clio expecting a working product, not to spend countless hours debugging their defective code. Their support approach is inefficient—they insist on screensharing to run various tools on your system instead of replicating the issue on their end and testing it properly. There’s no consideration for the customer’s time. After hours of troubleshooting, it turned out the issue stemmed from bad code related to a faulty app integration.

Be cautious when exploring their "over 200 apps in the App Directory." Clio doesn’t adequately test these integrations, so you could end up with more headaches than solutions. While they claim to integrate with numerous apps, most are more trouble than they’re worth, and there’s no guarantee they’ll work as advertised. In this way, Clio feels more like the Google Play Store—minus the ratings or reviews. For the premium price they charge, this lack of quality control and reliability is unacceptable. Clio aims to solve the problem of managing legal cases and client relationships efficiently by offering a comprehensive platform with various features. However, in my experience, the platform falls short. While it promises to streamline operations, the disjointed integration of tools and inadequate customer support often result in more time spent troubleshooting than benefiting from the system. Although Clio has the potential to simplify case management, the execution leaves much to be desired, especially for solo practitioners who rely on efficiency and clear, consistent support. What do you like best about Assembly Neos?

The best thing about Neos is the fact that everything is in the same place. All of the medical providers, records, billing, parties, documents, etc. And it's neatly organized in tabs so that the information doesn't get lost. I also love the ability to link it with my email to be able to tag them and with my calendar to make sure events are not missed. I use it every single day and it integrates perfectly with the rest of the apps I use. Has lots of tabs to separate docs, contact info, etc. Great for everyday use, and easy to look up clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Filevine?

It can seem cluttered at times. There are lots of functions on it that can seem overwhelming. The "activity" tab has all communications and updates for the case, but this can be overwhelming when trying to find information.

The platform itslef isn't terrible, but there is lots of room for human error or clutter. For instance, in the "docs" section attorneys and support staff can upload images and docs to various subheadings such as "discovery", "pleadings", "correspondence", etc., but many times attorneys and staff have a lot on their plate and don't use the tabs, thus the fron page of "docs" is overloaded with tons of different pics and docs all at once – can easily get cluttered. Lawmatics has been great for our small law firm's intake process. Although the process has been consuming and tedious to setup, it is definitely worth it in the end. The level of support provided by the onboarding team has been extensive and very much appreciated. Our firm has worked with Kennedy, who has been so amazing through the whole process. She will get into our account and set up forms for us on her own and she is always friendly when I feel like she has already answered questions or addressed areas of difficulty for our team of users. We have been live with Litify for six months. We could be more efficient with pen and paper at this point. We have spent so much on Litify and the configuration is so messed up it has hurt our ability to generate cash flow due to how inefficient our setup is. I don't like anything about Litify yet. I would have liked the Litify team to be more involved from the beginning with the 3rd party implementation agency. Our implementation was almost double what it was quoted and the configuration wasn't done correctly. Now the foundation of our Litify product isn't right. Ease of use 1 out 10 due to poor configuration. 1 out 10 for implementation. Customer Support has been overall good. We use Litify daily. Over the past 20 years, I have utilised five different time management solutions, and Amberlo is by far the most user-friendly. It has significantly streamlined our workflow, making it an indispensable tool for our firm.

While Amberlo is an excellent platform, I do find myself missing a dedicated module for AML/KYC and sanctions checks, which are crucial for compliance in legal practice. Integrating these features directly into the platform would greatly enhance its utility. Additionally, Amberlo does not integrate with my accounting software, which is a bit inconvenient. However, this seems to be more of an issue with the accounting application rather than Amberlo itself. I do not like that they haven't added a split billing option for billing when the invoice needs to be split between parties, such as GAL cleints. Also minor thing, but although Smokeball does intergrate with Word, it does not have the autocorrect feature and some of the formatting options avaiable in all parts of Smokeball such as the memos area (where we do keep a lot of our notes) we would love to see that added. One of the things I like about it the most is it is cloud-based and very easy to use. Anybody that has ever downloaded an app on their phone can use CloudLex. It's incredibly user-friendly. The training on CloudLex for a new employee takes about 30 minutes to an hour because it's tailored for personal injury law. This is one of my favorite things about it. When our firm switched to SmartAdvocate a company representative held a personal training webinar for our firm staff. The represntative was informative and concisely displayed all the basic features. SmartAdvocate has daily office hours where their staff will answer questions about the software. If the staff cannot answer the question you can be referred for additional IT support. SmartAdvocate also holds monthly webinars on featured topics that are informative and beneficial to attend. The customer service received has been very attentive and surprisingly enjoyable. The difficulty of certain features. There are plenty of basic features that help with expedited file reviews. There are also more advanced features. What do you like best about MyCase?

It was AMAZING when we started. They were quick, responsive, and supported everything we needed. The system was regularly updated and improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MyCase?

But then they got bigger, and it changed. Mycase is now just a corporation - we are experiencing a massive technical issue, and the call center ignored us. They sent us a follow-up email, instead of calling us - then the management just sent us bland emails, and refused to provide us with the contact information for the people who could fix the problem (they call them the "back end"), and just ignored us.

I have referred people to Mycase, and I will not do so anymore. A law firm lives and dies by its client interactions, and I need to do business with another business that recognizes that, and takes threats to those relationships seriously. Mycase used to be that - but sadly, is not anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
